Sebastiao Salgado
The first image is incredible. My initial thought when I first looked at this image was that it was a double exposure. When I realized that it wasn't I had a lot more respect for this image. Double exposure is a hard process and is very impressive, but the way he was able to capture such a chaotic and overwhelming situation and have it look beautiful is such a talent. The picture was taken at the perfect moment and the composition is perfectly executed. The man on the side follows the rule of thirds and gives the photo a center of interest while still drawing attention to the background and the natural disaster that is occurring.
I am a huge fan of the second photo. It is such a clear image with great detail and composition. I think that the way he made this photo a more close up image rather then farther away is what really makes it stand out. Being able to see the water fall off the whales tale and the detail in the light and contrast makes this photo very satisfying to look at.
The way the Sebastiao Salgado is able to take such chaotic events and creatures and somehow make them look almost peaceful is what I believe makes him stand out as a photographer.
